On Friday, March 5th I left Minneapolis, MN with a bus full of other students from my university. We were departing on a 10 day long choir tour to New York and back. I was so full of excitement; except that my heart felt sad as I left my wonderful boyfriend behind. As Tuesday (March 9th) morning rolled around, I was excited to spend a full day in New York. My roommate and I got up early to insure that we got our tickets to see Mary Poppins that evening. After we returned to our hotel I somehow pulled something in my back and began to experience excruciating pain in my back for the rest of the day; so I ended up spending most of the day in my bed. Around 6:00 PM my friends convinced me to get up and get ready to go for a walk in central park, and then to the show. I was still sore but managed to walk slowly through Central Park. As it grew dark we approached Bow Bridge in Central Park and my friends (who were all in on my boyfriend's plan) told me to go on the bridge so they could take some pictures of me, so I went along with it. As I was walking onto the bridge, my boyfriend walked up from the other side. I was SO shocked and surprised as he got down on one knee with my dream ring in hand and asked me to be his wife. I had no idea he would fly all the way to New York just for the night to propose to me. We ended the evening with a horse and buggy ride through central park and dessert at the Brooklyn Diner in Times Square. I felt like I was in a dream the entire time! Little did I know that my fiance's day had been filled with a 6 hour delayed flight, missed connecting flight, he ended up waiting on standby to get on a flight, his taxi broke down on the highway, and he ended up running 2 miles (with backpack and slip on shoes) to meet me in Central Park. He arrived 7 hours later than planned, sweaty, and exhausted....but he says it was COMPLETELY worth it. He is definitely my Prince Charming!
