My wife and I are very laid back... We wanted a resort that we could just hang out at and that was close to Atlanta. We booked Rui Palace Riveria Maya, it is only a 2hr flight, just outside Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
When we arrived they upgraded us to a Presidential Suite free of cost. The suite was insane: a huge bedroom, living room, 8 person dining room, kitchen, 1.5 baths, plus a beach front patio the spanned the length of all the rooms. We enjoyed the uncrowded private beach/lagoons. There are a lot of pools including the popular swim up bars. We can't wait to go back, we are planning our first return in the next couple of years.
The best thing we did was stayed an extra day in Atlanta to rest. We were able to really enjoy our honeymoon as a result.
