Chutney and I met on myspace 2 years ago. Our first date ever was at the Melting Pot. During spring break this year Chutney and I visited my cousin and his wife in Dallas Texas.
The day we arrived, my cousin and his wife suggested we eat at the melting pot (they were in on the secret). My cousin and I told the ladies that we had errands to run so we would meet them at the restaurant.
When the ladies arrived to the restaurant they were seated. We called them stated we would be 15 minutes late. While waiting, the waiter gave Chutney a note stating "You will receive a once in a lifetime five course meal" and that each course had a note attached to it. The waiter brought out the first course.
First Course(bread and wine). The note began by asking Chutney to say a prayer before the start of her meal. The note explained that bread is usually present at the table and can easily be replenished and just like bread Jesus is always present and can replenish blessings at any time through prayer. It further stated that wine must be properly selected to fully compliment a meal and just like wine, Jesus must be the “being” selected to fully compliment the blessings one seeks to receive. The note ended by asking Chutney to eat the bread and wine (communion) in remembrance of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Second course(appetizer). The note explained that an appetizer was “something that stimulates a desire for more”. For the meal Chutney received a printed version of our first conversation EVER on MySpace. The note explained that the conversation was like an appetizer because it stimulated our minds enough to make us want to know more about each other.
Third Course(soup). The note explained that soup is a “concoction of different ingredients to make a unified taste” and once a person has a great experience with soup, they desire the main entrée. Just like soup, our experiences blended together and were satisfying enough to make us want to go to the next level. Chutney received a large soup bowl with EVERYTHING we did as a couple, including plane tickets, attraction ticket stubs, pictures, the key to the hotel I stayed in when I visited her for the first time, and other sentimental artifacts.
Fourth Course(Entrée). I came out as the waiter and explained that the entrée’ was the long lasting meal. I pulled out a key to her heart she gave me for Valentine’s Day 2009 and said since she gave me the key to her heart, I wanted to ask for her hand in marriage. I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She said YES!
Afterwards, I mentioned that she only received four courses. On my laptop, I showed her “dessert”. It was a video with everyone that was special to her congratulating her (parents, best friends, co-workers, and mentor). She cried!
